Andre Green headed a late equaliser for Aston Villa as they completed a stunning comeback at Villa Park to deny Sheffield United the chance to go top of the Championship.
Billy Sharp fired a hat-trick for the Blades which looked certain to leave them leading the Championship on goal difference from Norwich City and Leeds United, albeit having played a game more.
However, things started to go awry for the visitors with eight minutes of normal time remaining when Tyrone Mings pulled a goal back to give the majority of the 35,000 crowd hope of an unlikely comeback.
Four minutes later, it was the turn of Tammy Abraham with the striker on loan from Chelsea pegging another goal back to leave the nerves jangling with the visitors.
And their misery was compounded four minutes into added time when Green pounced at the far post for an equaliser which just about keeps Villa’s play-off hopes alive as they lie three points off Bristol City who sit in the final play-off spot, albeit with Villa having played two games more.
