So called Islamic State may no longer control territory in Syria or Iraq but the group has survived and is now beginning to wage its bloody attacks once again across the world. Quentin Sommerville has tracked down IS fighters after the fall of the Caliphate

It took years of fighting and an international effort to defeat the Islamic State group, but its caliphate and leader are now gone.

However, IS was a different type of terror group – its fighters didn’t travel alone, but brought entire extended families with them.

Many survived but few countries have made a decision about what to do with the 70,000 people – around 10,000 children among them – who travelled to Syria to support IS and are still held there.

The BBC met Nada Fedulla who was brought to Syria by her father but now does not know if she will be able to return home to Indonesia.

And followed the trail of an Indonesian couple who spent three years, in four countries, in search of martyrdom for IS.

  1. Majority of Indonesians don't even want them anymore, even the Government denied their repatriation.. many wishes them dead for their choices.. I may be sorry for those who were forced by their relatives to join IS, but that's just the consequences of joining a vile, disgusting terrorist group.. so say goodbye to the nation and don't ever return!

  2. to be honest , dont came back to indonesia Mr Fedulla your face said " youre not felt sory for what you have done, receiving them back like a time bomb, is very risky. we don't know when
    they will attack us secretly

  3. They was all probably really happy when isis was in its prime and they lived like royals well everyone around them was getting looted lined up and exicuted, isis have lost and now they suffer.

  5. 13:45 "The wives and children of the Islamic State group had little choice in it, but they were swept up into the army of the Caliphate." Um, seriously? The wives certainly did have a choice. The women are as guilty as the men, and they are just as vicious, criminal and evil.

  6. no, i forgive them, but rules are rules. in indonesia we have a rule, whoever fight for another country will no longer have indonesian citizenship. so technically they are not indonesian anymore, they are stateless people.

  10. Young children and babies should be taken out of these camps and rescued by their respective countries (it’s not their fault). The world has to show compassion and also leaving them there could be a time bomb for the future.
